almost complete!

the downstairs of our new home is just about complete!
[there are a few things i want to add. all in due time]
no more painting.
no more hammering [until i find that perfect thing to hang above the kitchen sink.. :)]
no more no more no more!
moving sucks.
but it's fun to make a new place "home".

[sorry for the lighting and graininess. snapped with the iphone!]

the hallway that connects the kitchen & dining room to the living room.

so thankful for charlie and that he will hang anything i ask him for [with such precision!] with no complaining. :) i've got myself a keeper! mhmm.

now to finish the upstairs!

scentsy

i've recently discovered scentsy! [thanks to my good friend kamerin]
and i think i'm in love.
charlie loves it even more. which was a huge surprise to me!

i love anything and everything that make my home smell yummy and feel more cozy.
candles...febreez...diffusers...and now SCENTSY!
it's kiiinda pricey but i'm learning that a little wax cube lasts forever. [one pack of wax comes with about 8 cubes and i've had this for over a month and just put a new cube in. one scent pack will definitely last for a good 8 to 9 months]
aaanyways.
all scentsy products are flameless and for this reason i was a little skeptical about it. since helloooo i LOVE candles. but i thought i'd give it a try.
thank goodness i did because we love our little scentsy plug in wall light!

the melted wax that was previously a cube and will harden as it cools when turned off
[too bad there's no such thing as "scratch'n'sniff" blogging]

i adore the smell of vanilla
[weird since i'm such a chocoholic]
and i can't wait to try new smells and other cute plug-ins!

gettin' there

charlie's been away for work cold weather training in bridgeport, california.
[think: sleeping in the snow...eek! my poor baby.]
anyways, i've been trying to keep busy at home to make time go by faster.
i wanted to try to get as much done to the house for when he comes home next week.
[kind of a little "welcome home" thing :)]
before he left, our master bedroom didn't have anything in it besides our vacuum and our clothes hamper.
but now...
it's gradually getting to be a comfy, cozy, and relaxing room.
here's what our room looked like before...

and now after!
[note: there's still a bit more to do.]
also, i would like to point out that I, girly-girl samantha, hung the curtain rod & curtain ALL BY MYSELF. with a power tool. my husband will be so proud :)

i also got this cute framed artwork at good 'ol home goods for above the stove. our kitchen doesn't seem as *naked* now.

i'll throw in a few more pics of our kitchen. just for the heck of it :)

i still need to finish staining our giant oak-unit before he comes home, too. gotta get crackin' on that.

p.s. today is our 1 month anniversary! i love being a wife to my husband :)

startin' to feel like home

ever since we've moved in a few weeks ago i've been doing little things here and there to make our condo feel more like "home". [the little things make it feel "homey"]
here's a few pictures of how it's coming along
[we're about half way done with everything...our bed is coming this week, more frames need to be hung and our oak-unit is in the process of being stained]
but here's a little taste of our home :)
my mom gave us this monogramed garden decoration.
i LOVE it.
it's so hard to find the letter "O'

one of my favorite wedding gifts we got is this plaque.
thank you, ridley family!

this is where we have our family meals :)

hope you all enjoyed! more to come...

steal of a deal

we thought we would be kitchen table-less for a little bit when we first move in since we couldn't find a decent kitchen table under $200. and since i'm a stubborn one, i wouldn't buy a table that wasn't
a) dark wood
and
b) in good condition
that's not too much to ask...is it? :)

luckily my wonderful fiancé told me about this website. most of the items for sale on this site are in really good condition & have a great price due to military members either deploying or moving and needing to get rid of their stuff asap.

this is the table we found..
dark wood? check
good condition? check
and for 40 bucks? we'll take it!!

we love it!

paint.

since we have awesome property managers, they let us paint before we moved in!
such a relief, now we don't have to jam pack it into our already busy schedules in the next upcoming months.
so, on friday morning we went down to our place & bought some dunn edwards paint[AMAZING paint, btw. we only had to do one coat, it went on like butter. totally worth the money]
we chose to paint the green wall that was there in the family room an almost gray-blue. the color we got was called "glen falls"
then for the orange wall that was in our bedroom we decided on the tan that was in the rest of the place, this tan was called "stonish beige".
and finally, in our guest bedroom that was originally a pale yellow, we did two walls blue and two walls tan.
[mind you, we did all this in about 4 and a half hours. we're good at teamwork :)]

here are some before and after pictures.
don't worry, after we're done decorating, i'll post those too. those are the real "after" pictures.
